Bio

Hi – I’m a senior field correspondent at KJZZ and a reporter for NPR’s National Criminal Justice Desk. My work has been featured on All Things Considered, Morning Edition, Marketplace, Here and Now, The Takeaway and NPR Newscasts.

Im from Terre Haute, Indiana, where I went to school for a B.S. in criminology at Indiana State University. I have a master’s degree in Journalism from Indiana University.

Law enforcement runs in my family and much of my reporting has focused on the criminal justice system. I have covered Tasers, body cameras, use of force, jail privatization, prison health care and the criminal contempt trial of former Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio.

My reporting on the Parsons versus Ryan prison health care settlement in Arizona led the judge to call a special hearing to investigate whistleblower testimony that I sourced and published.
